Travel With Me

Let me tell you about my 35th birthday trip to Jamaica. Jamaica is full of savory food, waterfalls, beautiful alluring bodies of water, rum, and has a breathtaking culture. If I had to describe Jamaica in a few words it would be, hospitable, culturally fulfilling, and beautiful!

Our Air BnB…

We were picked up by our Air BnB host, Trevor and it really was a major bonus for us.  We were relieved at how much easier it was reserving an Air BnB versus a resort or hotel. Truthfully, no one wants to have any hassles on vacay and we did not have any major hassles. The only downfall is not having “filler” activities. At a resort, they typically have scheduled activities for you to do in between outside plans that you may have. The other downside is not having easy access to food or snacks.

Omg, the people…

Everywhere we went we were greeted with smiles! What I love most about the Jamaican culture, is their mindset about life. If you have been to Jamaica or watched tv at a minimum, then you know a popular saying is “No Problem Mon” and I feel their mantra is really the best way to be.  Jamaicans are the easiest going people I have ever encountered.

That first night, we went to Margaritaville on the Hip Strip and another night we went to Pier 1. The third day, we went on a catamaran cruise to Dunn’s River Falls. The cruise to Dunn’s River Falls was 3.5-hour excursion. We were able to sail to a snorkeling location, swim among live coral reefs, and schools of tropical fish. They had a Jamaican buffet with Jerk Chicken, rice, and peas. The best part was that it was an open bar and a huge party with cultural dancing! Just imagine a BIG family reunion but in Jamaica. It was LIT!

Dunn’s River Fall was a great experience. We were linked with people we never met of all shapes, colors, and from various places all over the world with one common goal, to not fall and to make it to the top! It was really a beautiful experience that allowed me and my friends to bond more and we had to trust complete strangers with our life!

Don’t even get me started on the food…

Immediately after the being picked up by our Air BnB host, Trevor. He took us to Jerky’s Bar & Grill and the food was so amazing and full of spice!  If you know me at all, then you know I love to eat immediately after a night of dancing. Luckily, the Hip Strip is filled with merchants grilling up jerk chicken and all types of yummy food.

We also went to a place called Bloggers for a pre-turn up snacks and drinks .

During our trip, we relied on our AMAZING driver Marlon. He was simply the best driver I have ever had. Please be sure to book him! He was probably the best part of the trip, honestly.

Marlon made sure we were safe everywhere we went, and really made us feel like celebrities. One night he took us to 876 Legends. You have to try the drink Y.O.L.O if you go. It’s so good and really strong! They played a really good mix of music and at this point, you should already know, the hospitality was superior.

On my actually birthday, we went to Peppa’s Cool Spot. Marlon had the restaurant stay open for our arrival and our table was already set with a peaceful ambiance when we arrived.

On to the beach…

On the beach, we had some really good food, drinks, girl talk, and naps lol.

Final Thoughts…

I really enjoyed experiencing the culture, food, and being with my closest friends. It’s really hard to get us all together since most of us live in different parts of Texas or in a whole other state. This trip was EXACTLY what we all needed. I love my friends!
